Star Fox Adventures AND Dinosaur Planet (Colored)

Description

Colored Version.

Fox, Krystal, Krystal, and Sabre.

Believe it or not, Star Fox Adventures was NOT Krystal's first game, nor was it the original Dinosaur Planet! No, the original Dinosaur Planet was a cancelled Nintendo 64 game featuring a blue, anthropomorphic feline named Krystal, who's primary weapon is a STAFF, and a tan wolf named Sabre, who uses a sword. The main enemy was FRIKKIN GENERAL SCALES, leader of the SHARPCLAW! At the end of the game, Sabre has to rescue Krystal, because she gets trapped at the end of the game! They frikkin had PRINCE TRICKY in it, too!

So my question is... Why the HELL did they cancel this game JUST to make it into Star Fox Adventures!?

Well... I guess that the continuation of the Star Fox Series was a good thing... and Krystal's new look...

Don't you think retro Krystal looks kind of cute? This is my first time drawing her in that form.

I don't know why Sabre turned out so dark. Colors! 3D does awkward things to the colors.

There's various information and/or speculation on the cancellation, but it all basically centers around so-called "business sense". Nintendo only saw "oh, this could be a starfox title!" and microsoft only really saw "$$$" and "intellectual property!" One makes the game be re-designed/re-purposed while the other caused rushed deadlines. Pretty bad combination. Although, I believe it also was mentioned Rare initiated that sell, and did even offer full ownership to Nintendo. As for totally butchering the storyline? IDK... supposedly Rare had free reign and screwed-up there... supposedly. I've read SO much about this game and/or the state of affairs during its development/cancellation/re-development that I'm not entirely sure who to believe or who to be more mad at anymore. I do entirely agree with "WHY?" It probably would've been a success. I do also debate an official statement about how it "probably wouldn't do well" into today's economy/market. (though that's also a somewhat dated interview, iirc) There's an awful lot, and potentially gradually increasing amount of people clearly interested in this game, at least a few of which weren't even alive at the time, or AWARE of such things. Guess we can always hope for a leak. A rather alarming amount of content has surfaced lately.

I think as far as an actual character with meaning/purpose and a proper backstory, the original Krystal was better. She was also cute. The version finally adapted into Adventures is definitely the most sexy one, but any real plot/backstory seems not to exist. Far as I know, it never went further than "her homeworld/parents are dead", correct me if I'm wrong? The other purpose would just be a love interest, and it took one single DS game to screw THAT up...

nice piece of art, and yes Sabre is kinda dark there
